1 - the extruded waterstop immediatly

     hydrates and increases its volume

     prematurely; thereby it doesn't realize a waterproofing barrier.


2 - Waterstop cannot be replaced.


3 - During the concrete pour, the concrete push forward the expanded bentonite

     that soils and muddies the concrete reinforcement, causing adhesion

     problems which determine the irons being uncoupled from the concrete,

     exatly in the zone, where  the iron/concrete matrix must be maximum .

     This phenomenon is known as  reduction or zero setting iron/concrete matrix.

       A  The most important waterstop Producers' warnings and

recommendations in order to install the bentonite extruded waterstop are :
 - It must be settled with GLUING.
- An adhesive to install it to the concrete.... is necessary.
- It should not be secured (fixed ) with mechanical nails alone:

   nails may be used in conjunction with glue .
- Whenever possible do not pour concrete directly

   on waterstop or allow vibrator to come in direct

   contact with waterstop.
- do not install when work areas are flooded ;

   bentonite extruded waterstop must to be

   protected against anticipate rains

   (before the concrete pour).
- Replace bentonite extruded waterstop

   if premature expansion happens.. .
