   hydration process of the Granular 100% Natural Sodium Bentonite

   SperrJOINT^® overcomes   the problem of instantaneous and

   uncontrollable hydration experienced with Granular Sodium

   Bentonite WATERSTOP when it comes in contact with water during 

   the normal construction process.

About Bentonite Waterstop

   The Sodium Bentonite is Hydrophilic clay volcanic origin

   The BENTONITE WATERSTOP must be kept dry prior to use;

    exposure to water (rain water, ground water and bleed water) prior to

    contact with fresh concrete will initiate premature hydration and

    expansion.
   This produce a low colloidal consistency (SOL state), which renders the

    Bentonite Waterstop unsuitable for effective waterproofing. 

   If the hydration process of Bentonite Waterstop commences after the

    placement of the second pour of concrete, Bentonite becomes a

    colloidal GEL that is a very effective, leak proof waterproofing barrier.

   This GEL state is produced with the MINIMUM expansive capacity within its capability and

    at the same time it produces the MAXIMUM expansive force that will be realized during the

    lifetime of the structure.

HOW DOES IT WORK
   The Granular Sodium Bentonite which is the heart of the SperrJOINT^® is

    packaged in specially formulated film which delays the start of the

    hydration process for a period of time that is approximate to the

    installation period and the cure time of the concrete.
   This delay means the Bentonite will not react to rain, ground water or

    bleed water during the placement of the material and the placement of

    the second concrete pour.
   The hydration and accompanying expansion of the Bentonite used in this

    patented system, is effectively  delayed until after the concrete from  

    both pours has developed sufficient strength to withstand internal

    pressures.

DESCRIPTION OF SperrJOINT^® system
1) - SperrJOINT^®
       - Specially designed plastic “ skin” that delays the hydration and expansion process’s.
       - The “skin” is packed with 100% Natural Sodium Bentonite.
2) - Anchoring device
       - cover : Glass fiber strip sized for each Sperrjoint^® section     - supplied.
       - blockjoint : metal clips                                                  - supplied.
       - nails        : nails for powder actuated tools                       - supplied.

SperrJOINT^® ADVANTAGES
   Guarantees a positive waterproofing capability to building and other

    types of structural foundations.
   “Tim Delay Skin” prevents premature hydration and expansion 

    caused by rain water, ground water and bleed water during

    application of SperrJOINT^® and second concrete pour.
   NOT SUBIECT to premature, accidental hydration and expansion as

    often experienced in other systems.
   The hydration and expansion process’s commence after the

    concrete sections have been cast thereby eliminating potential

    damage to the structure.
   Hydration and expansion of the SperrJOINT^® do not take place until after the concrete has 

    realized it’s initial cure and is capable of with standing the internal pressure.

    Therefore potential damage to the structure is avoided.
   SperrJOINT^® technology avoids the premature hydration and expansion of the Bentonite

    avoiding the muddying of the concrete, which creates bonding problems.
   SperrJOINT^® leak proof water barrier is easily placed and provides a positive waterstop,

    thereby assuring lower construction costs with no costly replacements or repairs.
   SperrJOINT^® WATERSTOP TECHNOLOGY, the ability to retard hydration and expansion, are

    designed to overcome the disadvantages and drawbacks common with earlier waterstop

    design.
